Week 2.6 Coming Up

#LoveWell - You're Enough
Woohoo!  The end of the 2nd 6 weeks is here!  We are 1/3 of the way through the year, and I am so proud of all you have accomplished.  By now, you have heard that we are making a pivot that includes At-Home-Learning only being available to students who have COVID, quarantine due to COVID or a medically-approved reason.  Here is why we made that decision.
  • Our data says it is safe to come to school.  1% of our students have contracted COVID since the start of school.
  • Face to face learning is the best way to learn and close gaps.  At-Home-Learning had a failure rate of 60%.
  • Teachers need more time to focus on instruction that works best for all kids.
With that said, I want you to know that what you're doing has been enough.  It may not feel like it, but it is and has been.  Don't forget your impact.  Don't underestimate your ability, and don't let anyone tell you that we are not making a difference because we are.

Check out this Joe Sanfelippo bit.  If you don't believe me about how awesome you are, listen to Joe.

CISD Board Sends Letter to TEA
At the October board meeting, the CISD Board of Trustees approved a letter to be sent to the Texas Education Agency to support you. It is amazing to work in a district where the board of trustees makes decisions best on what's best for all kids and all staff members.  Please take time to read the letter.

Announcements
  • The week of October 26 is FA2 Week.  We are developing individual student rosters in order to help you develop +10 goals for your students and to help target your interventions.
  • Be sure to develop specific plans to bring at-home learning students back into the classroom.  These plans should include routines and procedures that will reduce the anxiety of returning to campus as well as the learning gaps that these students may have as they start the third six weeks.

  1. Wow! Thank you administration and school board. I hope TEA will listen to all of the districts across the state and let us fill these gaps before giving such a high stakes test.
