It's hard to come up with the right words at the right time to motivate a student who is struggling, frustrated, mad, ready to quit, or simply lost. Check out this Edutopia video that gives us a reminder of all the ways we can encourage our students as well as one another. The work is daunting, but it's always worth it. Don't forget to be the LIGHT for others!

Encouragement come to my mind first. We have a great “spark” from our principals! I love this quote, “Teachers need good coworkers. Not just any coworkers, but coworkers that become friends. When teachers work well together, the whole school succeeds.” -We are Teachers

Teachers can stay positive and encourage the joy of learning. We also need to continue to build relationships with our students. Many times the school is the only positive place the students have. They need to feel safe in our classrooms.

DeleteStaff buy-in is what fans the flames. Without buy-in from the staff, the mission and vision will eventually burn out.
ReplyDeleteI agree, buy-in is key to fanning the flames and keeping a movement going. It takes those key people who aren’t just messengers of change but advocates for the change...people who will champion the cause. When those people start to fan the flames, then others will start to take notice and buy-in will start to build.
DeleteBuilding teacher-teacher and teacher-student relationships will lead to a positive and encouraging heartbeat of the school. This will inspire the staff and student buy-in for the vision of our school. The success comes from within!
