Week 4.3

#BeTheLIGHT - #BeLike50
Last weekend, I came across the tweet below, and while I have seen this before, it made an even greater connection to #my13th.  This shows what #my13th could look like.  It's not about the points, it's about the point.  Helping those who need the most help is our mission.  The hashtag, #BeLike50, has inspired educators around the country to create the conditions where EVERY student earns their 1/13 by helping other students earn theirs.

Announcements
  • FA4 should be entered in DMAC by Friday, January 24.
  • Board Appreciation Month - If you have not let our board members know how much you appreciate them, please take the time to let them know.  They do a fantastic job volunteering their time to make Carthage ISD a wonderful district.

Starting a Movement
  • Book Study - we are beginning a book study on Chapter 1 of "Starting a Movement".   Leave a quote from Chapter 1 that inspired you!

"A leader is only as good as the strengths of the people around him or her, so effective leaders surround themselves with those who can strongly contribute to both guiding coalitions and collaborative teams." - This makes me think of the saying "you are only as strong as your weakest link" but it also has a flip side saying we are drawn to those stronger people to help improve ourselves. We have to work together to pull that weaker link up to our level.

  18. Every team member has a unique set of knowledge to bring to a group. These groups need to be a safe place to discuss ideas and each member should feel comfortable sharing their knowledge of a particular subject. "It takes a village" to reach our students.
