| Thank you for all that you do for the students in CISD! |
So where do we go from here? The result of our learning will be consistency in how we as a district plan our lessons next year. Last week, the Instructional Visioning Committee were challenged to help us develop a common lesson planning explanation based on the concepts we learned about over the last 6 weeks. The principals with teacher input will develop common lesson plan templates that will be shared with teachers over the summer. If you have questions, please touch base with your principal.

STAAR Test Results
The results of the first administration of the STAAR 5th and 8th grade tests came in this week. We are very proud of our kids for their performance, and we applaud our teachers for their hard work and determination to help every student grow. The data shown in the table below illustrates how much growth our students made from last year as 4th and 7th graders to this year as 5th and 8th graders.
As you look at the data, it is important to note that we won't know how precisely much growth our students made until we compare our results to the state average. Furthermore, this data doesn't tell the whole story about Carthage ISD. This data is merely a snapshot of one test on one day, and we will not evaluate or our teachers and students based solely on this one assessment. We will use the data to determine next steps to fulfill our district goal of exceeding the state average on all assessments.
SPECIAL NOTE - 8th grade data does not include 50 students who are taking
Algebra 1 this year. Those students were part of the 7th grade scores only.
Staff Shoutout
We have 3 more outstanding employees to celebrate this week. Join me in applauding Karen Caver (Libby), Chuck Waggoner (HS), and Terry Caudle (Technology) for their hard work.
