Week of February 4

Wink's Words
Relationships are everything when it comes to learning.  If you have them with your students, you can motivate them to do almost anything.  Without them, students will easily reject you and the learning.  Not only do relationships with the teacher matter to students, but the relationships with other students matter as well.

In the month of February, people are encouraged to participate in Random Acts of Kindness Day on February 17.  I would like to take that idea and be even more targeted by making this month Fist Bump February.

Think about the fist bump.  When you give a fist bump to a kid, you're letting that kid know that they belong.  So let's reach out and let every Bulldog know they are awesome and that they belong with a fist bump.  Small things with sincerity have a big impact, and a fist bump has the potential to encourage a kid to remember that we are glad he or she is loved and belongs in Carthage.

Staff Shoutout
We have amazing counselors and student services coordinators in Carthage ISD.  With the week of February 5 being National School Counselor's Appreciation Week, we would like to give a staff shoutout to our amazing counselors who serve the academic, social and emotional needs of our students.

Thank you to Shannon Royce and Rhonda Gradberg of CHS, Sherri Smith of Primary, Sonya Shelton of Libby, Angie Bishop of CJHS, and Melanie McCormick of Baker Koonce for your hard work.  You are a big reason why CISD is an amazing school district for all kids.
