Students who struggle in a particular subject do so because of learning difficulties or disabilities, a history of failure, or issues that stem from the home. To get them into the learning game, we have to be really good at selling them the content.
- Passion - Infect them with your passion for learning and overcoming obstacles.
- Research - Talk to other teachers who have or had the student to seek suggestions to hook the student into learning.
- Inspire Growth - Show struggling students how far they've come and how they are growing in their learning.
- Coach through Strengths - Great coaches personalize learning for students by giving them one point of feedback at a time and leveraging their strengths to overcome their barriers.
- Embrace Failure - Teach students that failure is success in the making and when we learn from our mistakes we accelerate our learning.

Hyperlink
This year, you have been exposed to a lot of hyperlinks. The reason is simple. It accelerates your productivity and ability to quickly find information to drive your learning. If you would like to know more about the history of the hyperlink, here is a 3 minute video.
I find one thing many students struggle with in my class is when they have to get in front of the class and speak or perform. I make them get up and try even if they have stage fright to help them overcome their fear. I always try to write a note to the kids that are fearful or shy telling them something they did well while they were speaking or if it wasn't a very good performance and they know it, I write a note to tell them how proud I am that they just got up and tried. It always makes it a little easier the next time when they know that their fears were heard even if I have to push them to get it done.
