During the upcoming week, 1.3, our focus will be on engagement. Now that we have completed 2 weeks with exposure to C4B4Me, and strong routines and procedures and we have worked hard to build relationships with all kids, it is time to push our kids to be strong with their note-taking and collaborative learning.
This week push your students to work hard in note-taking and in collaborative learning activities. These are high-leverage activities that grow kids. Note-taking builds summarization and the C1 of C4B4Me, and collaborative learning offers students the opportunity to engage in reciprocal teaching, which can grow students by 2 years in 1 year.

Staff Shout-out
Below is a video of one our newest member to Baker Koonce, Sarah Humphries. In the video, she played her violin for her students to hook them into her lesson on the writing prompt about an item that best represents them. She illustrated how the violin represents her, and the kids were amazed.
What's awesome about this video is how she sold her content to her kids (STUDENT TO CONTENT) relationships. By revealing her personal connection to the content to be learned, she wowed her students and persuaded them to dive into the content in the next part of her lesson.
