Spring break is finally here. Here is my question for you. Will you disconnect from your work? Don't forget you are very much like your cell phone. If you never put it on the charger, it will be of no use to you. The same thing is true of your role and your work in CISD. If you never take a break and recharge your batteries, you will run out of energy and be of little use to your students. I challenge you to take a break, enjoy the beauty of spring, and do things that have absolutely nothing to do with your work. Your work will thank you for it when you return, but your students will benefit from it as well.
Happy Spring Break!
Starting a Movement
On page 62 - 66 of our book study, the authors talk about making a mantra that fully embodies our mission. This year, we introduced #BeTheLIGHT (Love, Innovate, Grow, Heart, Teamwork) to remind us of the power in our work. In January, we shared #my13th as a quick reminder that in this year we own 1/13th of a child's education which ultimately could be translated into 1/13th of the foundation of the rest of their lives.
This week, leave a comment of your own personal mantra that you use to keep yourself reminded of your personal mission as an educator in CISD.
Successful Strategies Network
We have so many wonderful educators doing amazing things for kids every day, and we would like to curate that work. We have begun an initiative called the Successful Strategies Network. This network will be a compilation of videos of your awesome strategies that help kids learn at high levels. If you would like to submit a proven strategy that helps kids learn at high levels, please CLICK HERE to complete a form. If your strategy is selected, you will be contacted to share your story. I hope you will share your excellence with everyone.
Everyone has a Superpower (What is yours?)

My personal mantra is that every child can learn. It’s my job to use what works for that child. I also remind myself that every student is someone’s child. How would I want my own child treated and what would I want the teacher do to reach them or challenge them?
ReplyDeleteAnd they learn even more with you. This is a great mantra. Thank you for sharing!
DeleteI love what Evelyn said about "how would I want my personal children to be treated?" Sometimes I have to step back and remind myself of this when I am upset at an action a child has presented.
ReplyDeleteI love the mantra from the book "Every child, Every day"!! I feel that God gave me each child in my classroom and they are in my room and heart for a reason!
